NATURAL DISASTERS AND POVERTY WALK TOGETHER!

Hurricanes, floods or earthquakes cause more important damage in poor regions than in rich regions. Generally, when a natural disaster affects a region, its effects are amplified whether people are not prepared to face it.

When a earthquake happens in a poor region such as Latin America or Asian, it causes many deaths. Nevertheless, in Japan earthquakes do not cause many victims because the Japanese build their homes with strong materials and advanced constructions. Sometimes even in rich countries, like the USA, natural disasters affect with different ways depending on economic level of citizens. For instance, many of Katrina´s victims were groups of people economically disadvantaged, mostly African-Americans.

Fragile homes built in places with high risk of flood or earthquake, the non-existence of urban planning, low preparation for a possible evacuation… They are some of the factors that cause more victims when a natural disaster happens.

There aren't many deaths either in Cuba where they are prepared for hurricanes and other natural disasters. I think it also affects how governments make their decisions and how they invest their money. It is a shame in the USA, as you point out, where investment and effort are used depending on the area affected: rich or poor inhabitants.

Excellent exercise! Well written and well thought of. Just a few little things to consider:
-When AN earthquake TAKES PLACE in a poor region (LOOK FOR THE USES OF HAPPEN AND YOU WILL UNDERSTAND MY CHANGE)
-different ways depending on THE economic level of citizens. (HERE IT IS A DETRMINATE "LEVEL" THAT OF THE CITIZENS. I KNOW IT'S DIFFICULT TO DISTINGUISH!!)
-when a natural disaster TAKES PLACE. (HERE "HAPPENS" WOULD BE ACCEPTABLE BECAUSE YOU DO NOT HAVE A COMPLEMENT BUT "TAKES PLACE" IS BETTER. DO AS YOU PLEASE.)

Hello Fire: As you point out, most of the time, natural phenomena affect in different way if people are rich or no. But, what do you think fire?

Obviously! but that happens also when the problem is illnes or war, for example. Not only natural disasters.
Most of the time rich people escape from the problem, but poor people..what can they do? nothing. Well, yes, they can resist

Hello, Fire-Blue-Sea,
I agree with you: rich countries can resist natural disasters better than poor countries. My question is: why people don't fight against govenment in order to make better the conditions?

Hi everybody! С новым годом и Рождеством!
That means Happy New Year and Happy Christmas, yes, Christmas after New Year. In Russia, because of orthodox religion, Christmas day is on January 6th. Hey, that's another clue about my identity!!!. Il Kommentatore knows something about Russian (or knows someone who knows something about Russian).
I’ve been really busy during these last days and I've been disconnected from the blog activity so I haven't had the opportunity to wish you the best for the New Year. That's all by now.
Желаю вам счастья (I wish you happiness).

Hey you! What’s happening with the blogs? I though this experience was about writing, because we need to improve our writing style, because we will have to demonstrate our writing level at the 5th level final exam. What do I have to do to encourage you??? Il-Kommentatore need posts to make comments. What are you waiting for? C’Mon.

You seem to be knowledgeable of science, a nice clue to get on your track... Happy New Year, by the way!

Yes, you are right about the resources used with certain social classes in the States. A shame, isn't it?
